HCG, or human chorionic gonadotropin, is a group of amino acids that works to decrease appetite and speed up fat metabolism in the body.

The HCG diet can be done by taking either daily pellets or injections that work to decrease appetite and speed up fat metabolism. This is done in conjunction with a very strict diet to help lose an average of ½-1 pound a day. Weight loss is most commonly seen in the midsection. Is the HCG Diet Safe?

HCG has been around since the 1950’s created by an endocrinologist Dr Simeon. His work found that by affecting the hypothalamus in a positive way patients were losing weight at an extreme pace. Human chorionic gonadotropin is a hormone produced by the placenta after implantation. Using HCG affects HOW your body loses weight, while the diet helps with the actual weight loss.

How much weight can I lose during a HCG Diet?

During a three week (21 day) HCG, a client using this diet may see weight loss of up to 15-18 pounds total. During a 42 day HCG diet, maximum weight loss can be above 25 pounds. It is common to see patients lose between ½ and 1 pound per day, when using HCG and following the diet strictly.

What HCG Options are Available?

Blue Tree Health offers HCG injections or pellets that are dissolved under the tongue. The pellets contain methyl B12 for energy and vitality. HCG injections have the option of adding B12 to their regimen. HCG plans are for 21 or 42 days of injections/pellets. Injections are done daily at home, by the patient. A complete physical history and exam will be taken before any therapy is started. Blood work is included in pricing if you have not had labs done in the past year.

Eating during the HCG Diet


During the HCG diet, Dr. Griffin will discuss your thorough, personalized eating plan, but you can plan to eat 2 smaller than normal meals per day while on the HCG diet. Each diet will catered specifically to your unique body, but each diet typically contains a meat-based protein, fruit, selected vegetables, and a small portion of healthy grains.

HCG For Vegans

HCG is currently not recommended for Vegans, due to the severe calorie restrictions while on the diet, and a lack of adequate protein and nutrients from only Vegan food sources.

HCG while Gluten Free

HCG diets are possible, but typically not recommended for people who are gluten free. If you have gluten restrictions, discuss this with Dr. Griffin at Blue Tree Health before starting treatment.

HCG For Vegetarians

HCG diets can still be done while on a vegetarian diet. However it’s imperative to find adequate protein sources in lieu of meat. Protein rich alternatives to meat may include supplements and skim milk, along with various other alternatives.
